Bookies fear Chelsea are poised to swoop for Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney
CHELSEA could be plotting a sensational double swoop that would rock European football - by signing Cristiano Ronaldo AND Wayne Rooney.
The first indication David Moyes was to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United came when bookmakers slashed the price of the Everton man going to Old Trafford.
A day later, Moyes was announced as Ferguson's successor.
Today bookies have rushed into action again.
Wantaway Manchester United striker Rooney started the day as a 2/1 shot with Paddy Power to join Chelsea but now he is the even money favourite for a Stamford Bridge move.
And Rooney could be joined by his old United team-mate Ronaldo.
The Portugese star was a 3/1 chance this morning to join Chelsea but he has been backed into 6/4.
Relations between the pair became stretched after the England striker was sent off for stamping on Portugal's Ricardo Carvalho at the 2006 World Cup.
Despite being club mates, Ronaldo waved an imaginary card around and winked as Rooney was dismissed, although Rooney insists he harbours no hard feelings.
