Chelsea interim boss Rafa Benitez keen on returning to Italy
CHELSEA interim boss Rafa Benitez has signalled a desire to return to Italy in the summer.
Benitez will leave the Blues on a high after guiding them to a top-four spot as well as presiding over their Europa League success against Benfica on Wednesday.
The Spaniard was in charge of Inter Milan for six months but his time at the San Siro ended on a sour note.
Though his family are based in Liverpool, Benitez is eyeing a return to Italy and has been touted to take over the reins from Walter Mazzarri at Napoli.
He said: "Italy is a country that knows football very well.
“Napoli? They are a strong side, just as many of the teams in Serie A are strong. Right now I cannot think about the future, as I have another Premier League game.
“Having said that, yes, I would like to return to Italy, because I really like the passion you have for football.”
The outgoing Blues manager has already dropped a big hint that Jose Mourinho will be handed a £100m transfer budget should he return to Stamford Bridge.
