Reading boss Nigel Adkins issues warning over Alex McCarthy
READING boss Nigel Adkins is reluctant to let Alex McCarthy leave the club in the summer.
McCarthy was eulogised for his performance after pulling off 10 incredible saves during Reading's goalless draw against Liverpool last month.
He was also in impressive form last night against Manchester City, even though the already relegated Berkshire club slipped to a 2-0 defeat.
Adkins sees McCarthy as an important part of the club's future and sees no reason to let him go even though he expects there to be interest in him.
He said: "I'm sure there will lots of speculation. But we are in a good position in respect of the finances and there is good stability here. We're not looking to lose Alex and are looking to build for the future.

"He made some excellent saves and has demonstrated that on a few times now. We want to build and play from the back and one or two of his distribution choices weren't the greatest, but others were.
"We believe he can be a top-four keeper at international level and, if you can play out from the back, he can do that."
