Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez open to Napoli move
RAFA BENITEZ could be set to join Serie A side Napoli this summer when his season-long spell at Chelsea comes to an end.
Benitez is hoping to guide his Chelsea side to Europa League success in Amsterdam tonight, but knows come the end of the season he will need to find a new job.
Jose Mourinho is heavily expected to take the reigns at Stamford Bridge, but Benitez was philosophical when questioned about his own future plans.
"There are two options for me," said Benitez. "One is a top side where you can go straight in and compete for trophies. Or maybe a project. It depends on the project. You have to analyse carefully.
"It is my priority to stay in England but maybe I will have to look abroad and see if a top side is available in another country. It’s part of the thing that I have to do now."
Benitez may head abroad and return to Italy with Napoli - having previously managed in Serie A with Inter Milan - with the club already preparing for the exit of manager Walter Mazzarri to Roma.
And Benitez's agent has refused to rule out his client switching to Naples, who have secured second place in the Italian top flight this term.
"We have not had any contact with Napoli, but we are willing to listen to a proposal," said Manuel Garcia Quillon. "Napoli are an important team which have done great things in recent years.
"We would be willing to listen to them, but we have to evaluate many other things too. However, we would not close the door on Napoli."
