Malaga confirm Manuel Pellegrini can leave to sign two-year contract with Manchester City
MANCHESTER CITY look set to announce the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini to replace sacked manager Roberto Mancini after Malaga confirmed that the Chilean is free to leave at the end of the season.
Pellegrini is the overwhelming favourite to take the Manchester City job after Mancini was sacked on Monday night, despite the Malaga boss dismissing the links as 'rumours'.
However, today the La Liga side have admitted that the 59-year-old can move on, allowing him to join City without any obstacles.
Reports in Spain have suggested Pellegrini will seal a two-year contract with the Citizens, who fired Mancini after a season without silverware despite Premier League and FA Cup success during his three-and-a-half year reign.
Pellegrini - known as 'the engineer' due to having achieved an Engineering degree before his management career started, looks set to overhaul City with talented playmaker Isco tipped to come with him from Malaga.
Mancini is being lined up by mega-rich French side Monaco to take over from Claudio Ranieri as they prepare for their first season back in the top flight following promotion.
City's Carlos Tevez could join Mancini on the south coast of France, with the club also thought to have agreed the signature of coveted Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
