Arsenal to go back to drawing board after seeing £10m bid for Rui Patricio turned down
ARSENAL will have to up their offer if they are to get their hands on Rui Patricio in the summer.
The Gunners have been lining up a number of goalkeeping targets including Barcelona's Victor Valdes, Hamburg's Rene Adler and Stoke's Asmir Begovic as Arsene Wenger hasn't been impressed with Wojciech Szczesny this campaign.
Patricio has been valued at £13m which may prove steep for the Gunners even though Wenger likes the look of him.
But Arsenal have had a setback after their opening bid was turned down by Sporting Lisbon.
Portuguese paper A Bola ascertains Arsenal made a £10m bid for Patricio, but Sporting did not think this was a fair reflection of the keeper's worth.
They also note that Arsenal sent a scout to watch Patricio in action at the weekend to firm up their interest.
Patricio, who has clocked up 40 appearances this season, kept a clean sheet in Sporting's 1-0 win over Olhanense.
