John Terry facing Chelsea Europa League final KO
JOHN TERRY is in danger of missing his second European final in successive seasons.
It’s a huge blow. I know how difficult it was for John missing last year’s final.
Terry was suspended for Chelsea’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich last year and could be out of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Benfica. He was carried off during the win at Aston Villa and has a badly twisted ankle.
“We don’t know if Terry will be fit,” said Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez. “When you twist your ankle it’s not nice, but you have to wait.”
Terry had a scan at Cobham yesterday and left the training centre with his ankle in a support.
Chelsea’s record goalscorer, Frank Lampard, said: “It’s a huge blow. I know how difficult it was for John missing last year’s final.”
Eden Hazard is even more doubtful for Wednesday’s final, having suffered a hamstring pull.
