Roberto Martinez the favourite to replace David Moyes but he tells Everton not to bother
WIGAN manager Roberto Martinez has dismissed speculation that he could be set to replace Manchester United-bound David Moyes but telling Everton it would be a 'waste of their time' to try and lure him to Goodison Park.
Moyes has all but been confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United, with Everton left to search for a replacement to fill the Scot's boots.
While Swansea's Michael Laudrup, Celtic's Neil Lennon and Porto manager Vitor Pereira are all on chairman Bill Kenwright's shortlist, Martinez is the favourite.
However, with Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City to prepare for as well as two vitally crucial Premier League games that will determine what division the Latics are in next season, Martinez is not losing focus on Wigan.
"At this moment in time it would be a waste of time," said Martinez about rumours linking him with the Everton job.
"The most important thing is to be as ready as we can for Saturday and then the two other finals we have in the league after that.
"It is the peak time for us. We want our fans to be proud of us and that is what we are fighting for.
"What goes around on the outside doesn't affect us. We won't lose any focus."
