Chelsea ready to thrash out new deal for Thibaut Courtois
CHELSEA are bordering on offering Thibaut Courtois a fresh deal in the summer.
Courtois was loaned out to Atletico Madrid in 2011 after failing to get much of a look-in at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian shot stopper was purported to be a makeweight in a potential deal involving Radamel Falcao, although the hit man has also been closely linked with Manchester United.
Chelsea have recognised Courtois' potential and are now ready to come to the negotiating table to strike a new deal.
According to football website Give Me Football, Chelsea officials are closing in on a new deal which would see Courtois extend his contract until 2018.
The only potential stumbling block, is that Petr Cech is still the undisputed No1 and so chances may still seem few and far between.
Courtois, who tasted Europa League glory last season, has clocked up 40 appearances for Atletico this season.
