Manchester City closing in on €40m plus Edin Dzeko deal for Edinson Cavani
EDINSON CAVANI looks increasingly likely to join Manchester City this summer, with Edin Dzeko set to be used as bait in a €40m bid.
Cavani has admitted he is open to leaving current club Napoli, with Manchester City determined to sign the highly-coveted striker this summer.
City boss Roberto Mancini has blamed his side's failed title defence at the feet of his misfiring strikers, and has set his sights on a bringing in a new goalscorer ahead of next season.
With the Citizens unwilling to pay upwards of around £50m reportedly necessary to activate the Uruguayan's release clause, Dzeko is set to be offered as a makeweight in the package.
Mancini has sanctioned Dzeko's departure in order to bring in Cavani, with the deal rumoured to involve €40m (£33.8m) cash as well as the Bosnian hitman.
Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho has revealed his desire to join the deposed Premier League champions this summer.
The Ukrainian outfit want City to pay £42.5m to activate his release clause, but City are driving a hard bargain and want to pay closer to £20m.
