Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers worried about how to replace Jamie Carragher
LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers has conceded he has a difficult task in trying to find a suitable replacement for Jamie Carragher.
The defensive stalwart, who will retire at the end of the season, has been a loyal servant for the club, which is highlighted by the fact he played in his 30th Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.
The Reds are assessing their defensive targets and have been on the tail of Swansea captain Ashley Williams and Sevilla's Federico Fazio.
With Carragher set to join the Sky Sports punditry team, Rodgers is under no illusion that they will not make a snap decision with regards to his replacement.
"You see him now at 35, he’s at the top of his game he’s absolutely outstanding.
"Having worked with him now for so long I can clearly see why he was one of Europe’s top defenders for so many years.
"We’ll have to search far and wide to find somebody to be at that level but it’s difficult," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo.
Carragher has clocked up over 700 appearances during his long association with the club.
