Gonzalo Higuain exit sparks race between Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool
TOP Premier League clubs are on red alert after Real Madrid revealed Gonzalo Higuain is available for transfer.
Higuain has been linked with a host of English sides, and is set to be sold in the summer after struggling to deliver at the Bernabeu.
Manchester City are thought to be the favourites to land the Argentine given their financial strength, but Tottenham are interested after failing to sign him last summer.
Liverpool have been the target of a player-plus-cash deal for banned frontman Luis Suarez, while Arsenal are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old.
It appears Higuain is destined to leave Madrid after director general Jose Angel Sanchez said: "In a great club like Real, we believe we need [at least] two number nines of a high level.
"We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come."
Higuain started for Real during their crunch clash with Dortmund this week, but was substituted after less than an hour for striking rival Karim Benzema.
Benzema scored in the 82nd minute to help Madrid almost record a stunning fightback against the German outfit, and that has helped the Frenchman's case for a future at Real.
