Manchester United set to tie down Wayne Rooney with new four-year deal
MANCHESTER UNITED are in the process of offering Wayne Rooney a fresh four-year deal to stop him leaving in the summer.
Rooney's future has been the subject of much conjecture ever since he was left on the bench for United's last-16 Champions League exit at home to Real Madrid in March.
The England striker was agitating for a move away from Old Trafford in 2010, and threatened to join Manchester City but made a dramatic u-turn.
Although Rooney has been on the radar of PSG, United are ready to offer a lucrative financial package to their frontman to ward off suitors.
Football website Goal.com reveals Rooney's agent Paul Stretford is prepared to play hardball to get the best deal for his man.
They also explain Nike, who manufacture the club's kit, want Rooney to stay as they are also his boot sponsor which would look good for brand image.
Rooney currently has two years to run on his current £250,000-a-week contract.
He has been instrumental in United's title-winning campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists.
