Jose Mourinho plans to take Xabi Alonso with him if appointed Chelsea boss
JOSE MOURINHO is planning to bring Xabi Alonso to Stamford Bridge in the summer if appointed Chelsea manager.
Alonso has reached an impasse with Real Madrid over a new deal, as his contract expires next summer.
Speculation had been swirling around that Alonso could re-join Liverpool, whom he left in 2009, but his future remains unresolved.
Mourinho is set for showdown talks with president Florentino Perez, as he has also been courted by PSG.
The Portuguese coach dropped another huge hint that he could be on his way to Chelsea during his post-match interview with ITV after Real were knocked out of the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.
Mourinho is believed to have a £15m release clause inserted into his contract , but that could be only activated mid-season.
According to a report in a British newspaper, Mourinho wants Alonso to be included in a deal should he return to Stamford Bridge.
