West Ham extend defender Winston Reid's contract
WEST HAM UNITED centre-back Winston Reid has signed a new contract that will keep him at Upton Park until 2015.
Reid has been a key player for the Hammers this season, helping the promoted team to stay in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old says he is happy in East London, having become a reliable member of Sam Allardyce's side alongside James Collins at the back.
The New Zealand international joined West Ham from Danish outfit FC Midtylland in 2010, but is now contracted to the English club for two more seasons, a year before they move into their new Olympic Stadium home.
"I've really enjoyed being here," said Reid.
"It's a good club and we've done really well over the last couple of years. Now, I'm looking forward to the next two years.
"I think I have played some good football over the last two years but that goes for the whole team as well," said Reid, speaking to the official West Ham website. "Hopefully we can continue that.
"It is an exciting time for the club. Even though it is three years down the road, they are already looking forward to seeing what can be done when we move there."
West Ham look set to bolster their defence with the free transfer signing of Romanian captain Razvan Rat.
