Sunderland appeal against Stephane Sessegnon's red card
SUNDERLAND have lodged an appeal after Stephane Sessegnon was sent off against Aston Villa, the FA has confirmed.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was given a straight red card 21 minutes from the end of the game by referee Lee Probert after a late challenge on Yacoub Sylla.
The Black Cats were thrashed 6-1 which drags them back into the relegation mire, and manager Paolo Di Canio issued a public apology for his side's lacklustre display.
Sessegnon will have his case heard by an independent regulatory commission tomorrow afternoon.
