Chechen linesman banned for life after shocking assault
A CHECHEN linesman was imposed with a lifetime ban after assaulting a player during a Russian league match.
The incident took place at the end of a heated affair between Amkar Perm and local side Terek.
Linesman Musa Kadyrov lost his rag, and after dropping his flag, proceeded to attack Amakar defender Ilya Krichmar.
Chechen football authorities took a dim view of the shocking incident and threw the book at him.
Former FIFA referee Alexei Spirin, who attended the game as an assessor was stunned by what he saw.
"In all my refereeing career I have never seen anything like it. This guy should not be a referee," Spirin said.
"He had no clue about rules, even worse, attacked a player. On a scale of one to 10, I'd give him a zero and I'm writing a special report.
"He should not be allowed to officiate again."
Indonesian footballer Pieter Rumaropen was banned for life last week after punching a referee.
