Swansea to wrap up three-year-deal for Real Betis midfielder Jose Canas
SWANSEA are set to secure their first signing of the summer in free transfer Jose Canas Ruiz-Herrera.
Canas - one of Swansea's planned six signings ahead of next season - is reported to have agreed a three-year-deal at the Liberty Stadium.
Michael Laudrup was close to clinching a transfer for the Real Betis defensive midfielder in January, but refused to pay over the odds for him.
Canas, 25, will not cost Swansea a fee with his signature confirmed by various sources in the Spanish press.
Betis turned down a €1m (£843,000) bid from the Swans in January, as they were struggling to qualify for the Europa League and wanted to keep the player.
Coincidentally, Canas will now prepare for the Swans maiden European experience next campaign, as they qualified for the Europa League by winning the League Cup.
Canas has made 26 La Liga appearances for far this season, and becomes the fifth Spaniard to sign for Swansea after Angel Rangel, Chico Flores, Pablo Hernandez and Michu.
