Henning Berg wins court case against former employers Blackburn Rovers
BLACKURN ROVERS have been ordererd to pay their former manager Henning Berg £2.225m in compensation after he won his claim of unfair dismissal against the club at the High Court in Manchester.
The former Manchester United defender was relieved of his duties in December, just 57 days into his tenure.
The 43-year-old took over from Steve Kean and had signed a three-year contract, but was sacked after Rovers fell to a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough.
At the hearing, it emerged that the ongoing feud between Rovers' managing director Derek Shaw and the Venkys was a "shambles".
This was later denied in a statement released on the club's website, in which Shaw insisted that he had the "complete backing and support" of the owners.
The Championship strugglers have also been asked to pay £20,000 in interim costs.
