Barcelona up the ante for former Liverpool transfer target Samir Handanovic
BARCELONA have emerged as the frontrunners to land Inter Milan shot stopper Samir Handanovic in the summer.
The Catalan giants have been trying to shore up a replacement for Victor Valdes, who is destined to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the season.
Valdes is believed to be in talks with the Gunners over a £4m summer switch.
Handanovic was a mooted Liverpool target earlier this year, with Brendan Rodgers prepared to offer £12m for his services.
And now Barcelona, who suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich last night in the Champions League, will turn their attentions to the Slovenian.
Liverpool in the meantime will keep faith with Pepe Reina, despite some high-profile blunders this season.
Handanovic has kept two clean sheets in his last four Serie A matches.
