Antolin Alcaraz in Wigan injury scare for FA Cup final
WIGAN defender Antolin Alcaraz is a major doubt for the FA Cup final after scans revealed he has suffered a tear in his hamstring.
We will see how quickly he responds to treatment but soft-tissue injuries of that type would usually take the best part of three weeks to heal
The 30-year-old limped off during Wigan’s 2-0 defeat by West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday and faces up to three weeks on the sidelines.
With the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 11, it looks unlikely that he will recover in time.
Alcaraz has spent most of this season out with a groin problem but returned in February and has impressed in his nine games since.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said: “We will see how quickly he responds to treatment but soft-tissue injuries of that type would usually take the best part of three weeks to heal.”
