Did Wayne Rooney snub Sir Alex Ferguson's handshake after substitution during title win?
MANCHESTER UNITED may have secured their 20th league title last night after beating Aston Villa, but it appears that speculation surrounding Wayne Rooney's future is yet to dissipate.
Rooney was the only Manchester United player to be taken off during the comfortable 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, and given the celebratory circumstances he did so in a slightly curious fashion.
As he made way for Danny Welbeck, Rooney headed for the United seating area where Ferguson was waiting hand out to congratulate the striker.
However the England international appeared to ignore the Scottish manager and instead focus on putting on his jacket and sitting in the dugout with the rest of the squad.
It could have been a mistake, or even mean nothing, but given the complicated season the 27-year-old has endured the incident did seem odd.
Rumours continue to link Rooney with a summer departure from Manchester, with PSG tipped as a potential destination. Real Madrid could also be an option too.
Rooney made all the right noises after the game though, praising the team and manager.
"It's what we've worked all year for and we've fully deserved it," said Rooney. "We won this game in the first half and it is a fantastic night for us.
"When you lose the title, it's hard to take and the way we did it wasn't a nice feeling last time so we've all dug in deep and all worked together and done fantastic to put ourselves in the position tonight to finish the job off.
"You know how football is so you never take anything for granted so we worked hard and thankfully now it's done.
"The manager has great desire and a winning mentality. We all buy into that and want to do well for the club."
