Manchester City ready to shatter wage structure to land Edinson Cavani
MANCHESTER CITY are ready to shatter their wage structure in order to pave the arrival of Edinson Cavani.
The highly sought after Napoli striker has been a long-term target for City, who are in the throes of planning a major clear out in the summer.
With Edin Dzeko reportedly believed to be heading to Borussia Dortmund, City want a proven goalscorer to re-establish themselves as the dominant force in English football as they are on the brink of ceding the title to Manchester United.
Cavani's mother also said last week that she thinks her son could leave the Serie A outfit in the summer.
Italian football site Forza Italian Football indicates City are willing to make Cavani the highest paid player in the Premier League by offering him a staggering £13.3m a year.
This equates to weekly wages of £256,000, which would trump Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure who are on £200,000 a week.
Cavani has a £52m buy-out clause, but that shouldn't be prohibitive for affluent City.
The Uruguayan has smashed 30 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season.
