Bolton 2 - Middlesbrough 1: Marvin Sordell hits the spot
MARVELLOUS Marvin Sordell smashed home a spot-kick to fire Bolton to an eighth straight home win and a top-six spot.
But Wanderers found it tough going against a Boro side reduced to 10 men when Jonathan Woodgate was sent off in the 62nd minute.
Chris Eagles edged them ahead with a fluky effort in the 50th minute only for Kieron Dyer to quickly net a leveller.
It was a very good, spirited performance. That’s what we have on our side right now
But when Woodgate chopped down Chung-Yong Lee in the box, Sordell showed a cool head to slot home the winner.
Bolton manager Dougie Freedman said: “It was a very good, spirited performance. That’s what we have on our side right now.”
Boro boss Tony Mowbray said: “We did enough not to lose but that’s how our luck is going.”
