Arsene Wenger lends support to under-fire striker Olivier Giroud
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger has given his backing to under-fire striker Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman spurned a couple of decent opportunities during the Gunners' bruising goalless draw against Everton in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Giroud has had a strange season for the Gunners, and has failed to fully the void left behind by Robin van Persie who joined Manchester United last summer.
But Wenger has backed Giroud to find the net on a more regular basis.
Speaking at his news conference, he said: "He has given a lot until now. For his first season, he is doing extremely well.
"He has a fantastic attitude. He is different to what we use to have.
"He gives us a different dimension and has good aerial ability."
Giroud has fired 17 goals in all competitions so far this season.
