Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre reaffirms belief Luis Suarez will stay
LIVERPOOL managing director Ian Ayre has set the record straight on Luis Suarez once and for all - he's not leaving Anfield in the summer.
The Uruguayan's future has been the subject of continual debate, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus sniffing around.
However, the Express Online reported last week that a potential summer move to the Serie A giants had hit the buffers.
And now Ayre, who previously suggested that Suarez will remain at Anfield, has insisted the club has no intention of selling him.
"To play at the highest level in the Premier League and European soccer, you need players like Luis and Steven Gerrard on your team so the last thing in our mind is selling Luis Suarez," Ayre told sports magazine Sports Illustrated.
"He's not for sale. It's not something we're interested in.
"I remember when [Fenway Sports Group] bought the team, John [W Henry] made a comment in the media: We don't want to just build a team to win but to keep winning.
"To do that you have to have a number of world-class players on your team."
Suarez currently heads the Premier League scoring charts, as he has netted 22 times this campaign.
