David Moyes is after the big guns for Everton
DAVID MOYES has urged Everton to make history as they pursue a Champions League spot next season.
Tonight Everton visit Arsenal, who are third and four points ahead, with testing matches at Liverpool and Chelsea to follow.
The sixth-placed club have never won at any of those venues under Moyes, and the manager said: “If we’re going to do it we’re going to have to win one of the big games somewhere along the line.
“It is us trying to break new ground in a lot of ways. Our record has not been great at the Emirates and we go there as big outsiders to make it. So I have not thought how big the match is. Maybe if we won it, I might start thinking how big a game it was for the club.”
Everton have not won in 43 visits to the Emirates, Anfield, Stamford Bridge and also Old Trafford during Moyes’ 11-year reign, but the fact they are still chasing a top-four spot with six matches left underlines their tenacity.
“It’s not a big chance but it’s a chance – and there are only five or six teams that can say that” said Moyes. “So we’re happy to be in that position.”
