Liverpool and Newcastle fall behind in hunt for Aurelien Chedjou
LIVERPOOL and Newcastle are losing out to Valencia in the race to sign Lille centre-half Aurelien Chedjou.
Brendan Rodgers and Alan Pardew were both interested in the £12million-rated Cameroon international but it appears that Valencia are favourites to sign him.
Chedjou, 27, grew up playing for Villarreal and is thought to favour a move back to Spain.
According to Spanish website fichajes.net, Valencia have "virtually completed the signing" of Chedjou, who has publicly expressed his desire to leave Lille since June.
