Swansea could ward Liverpool off Ashley Williams with £12million price tag
LIVERPOOL fear that Swansea will ask for as much as £12m for defensive target Ashley Williams.
That would leave manager Brendan Rodgers in a battle to convince owners, Fenway Sports Group, to sanction such a fee for a player, who turns 29 in August.
Arsenal had a £9m bid for the Wales centre-half turned down in January and retain an interest, although boyhood Liverpool fan Williams is keen to work with Rodgers again.
Rodgers has yet to sign anyone over the age of 24 under FSG and Ajax’s Belgium international Toby Alderweireld, 24, is the manager’s alternative to Williams.
