Manchester City and Chelsea on red alert for Jupp Heynckes
MANCHESTER CITY and Chelsea are both on standby for Jupp Heynckes, who could perform a u-turn on his retirement.
Heynckes is set to step down as Bayern Munich's coach at the end of the season, with Pep Guardiola officially being installed as the new coach in July.
Heynckes has presided over a fantastic campaign for the German giants, who have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title with six league games to spare following a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
But now Chelsea and Manchester City may try to twist his arm to persuade him out of retirement.
Reports in Spain indicate that Heynckes may be a back-up option for Chelsea if they can't facilitate the return of Jose Mourinho.
City are also keeping tabs on Heynckes, in the event that Roberto Mancini leaves the Etihad.
Heynckes' side are poised to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Juventus, as they hold a two-goal lead from the first leg.
