Manchester United fix their sights on Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez
MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to outmuscle Arsenal in their bid to land Alexis Sanchez in the summer.
The Gunners expressed their interest in Sanchez in recent months after missing out on his team-mate David Villa in the January transfer window.
Moreover, Udinese's sporting director Fabrizio Larini suggested that Sanchez would be a 'perfect fit' for Arsenal.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini also saw potential in Sanchez before he joined Barca in 2011.
Sanchez's future has been the subject of much speculation and after a season dominated by injury and poor form off the pitch, the Chilean appears ripe for a new challenge.
Italian football site Tutto Mercato Web has it that Sir Alex Ferguson has been a long-term admirer of Sanchez and is willing to table a bid for him.
Although the report goes on to mention that Juventus and Inter are also in the frame for Sanchez's signature, it does point out that Sanchez could be a viable alternative to Javier Hernandez or Wayne Rooney.
Sanchez has only scored four goals for Barca in La Liga so far this term.
