Niall Quinn: I am surprised by points gap between Manchester United and City
FORMER Manchester City striker Niall Quinn has professed that he is shocked by the sizeable points gap between the two Manchester clubs.
United hold a 15-point lead over City going into tonight's showdown at Old Trafford, and are on course for the biggest title-winning margin in the Premier League's history.
Quinn was on the losing side in the Manchester derby, when City lost 3-2 to their bitter adversaries in November 1993 at their old ground Maine Road.
He thinks that 'pride' is at stake in this game and though he believes this contest makes the Premier League 'the best league in the world', he acknowledges United deserve to be top of the table.
He said: "I am surprised by the points gap. I didn't think it would be virtually over by now.
"I went on record before the Southampton game and said it was Manchester United's chance to gain revenge.
"Robin van Persie arrived at Old Trafford and not in the blue half of Manchester. Vidic has been back on the scene and Rio Ferdinand is having a great season."
City come head-to-head with United at Old Trafford for the first time since inflicting a 6-1 drubbing on them in October 2011.
