Manchester United thrash Manchester City...in Twitter derby
MANCHESTER UNITED hammered fierce rivals Manchester City to win the derby…among the clubs' fans on Twitter.
Supporters had 10 days to tweet messages of support for their team and more than 20,889 were sent. United took 84 per cent of them and City a paltry 16 per cent, meaning the landmark town hall was lit up by a sea of red to reflect the United dominance.
The ‘No Likey, No Lighty’ off-pitch game, organised by Virgin Media, even attracted the attention of Manchester-born Melanie Sykes and former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who were gunning for United, and City legend Franny Lee and Daybreak TV presenter John Stapleton, who were backing City.
United and CIty meet on the pitch at Old Trafford tonight.
