Cheikhou Kouyate underlines Arsenal ambition
ARSENAL has emerged as the preferred destination for Cheikhou Kouyate this summer.
The Anderlecht midfielder has been linked with a move to the Gunners in the past and he has already told his club he expects to leave at the end of the season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be handed a £70m transfer kitty to help his side challenge for silverware next season.
The Gunners are in need of a holding midfielder to protect the back four, as the likes of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are more renowned for their attacking abilities.
Kouyate didn't want to be drawn too much into the speculation about his future, however admitted he is a fan of Arsenal.
He said: "I like Arsenal because they play good football. There have been enquiries before, but nothing happened.
"I do not want to say where I am going, but this will be my last season with Anderlecht.
"Until I leave, I will continue to give 100 per cent."
