Sunderland fans prepare to give Paolo Di Canio warm welcome
PAOLO DI CANIO has been put under intense media pressure following his appointment as Sunderland boss - but that hasn't stopped fans preparing themselves to give him a rapturous welcome.
The Italian had been asked to clarify his political beliefs following strong evidence linking him to fascism and he initially declined to comment.
Di Canio later declared he was neither fascist or racist and said now was the time to concentrate solely on footballing matters.
Sunderland travel to Stamford Bridge take on Chelsea and the faithful have long been preparing themselves to give their now boss a warm welcome.
A thread entitled 'Di Canio chant to Lazios Non Mallare Mai' has attracted more than 12,600 views on Sunderland fans' forum site Ready to Go.
Supporters delighted with the appointment have been writing hundreds of posts to suggest their own songs for Di Canio.
It appears that Non Mollare Moi - a chant synonymous with Lazio - is their preferred option.
