Rafael Benitez never doubted Chelsea striker Fernando Torres
FERNANDO TORRES struck twice as Chelsea put one foot in the Europa League semi-finals with a convincing performance last night.
Torres – masked to protect his broken nose – took his tally for the season to 18 goals and Victor Moses also struck as Chelsea grabbed a much-need 3-1 first-leg lead.
Manager Rafa Benitez insisted he never doubted his inconsistent £50million man, saying: “Fernando will play well and score goals until the end of the season.
“I’m pleased for him. We always talk about strikers having to score goals so their confidence is there. You could see that with Fernando. His touch on the ball was much better after the goal because of the confidence he had.”
