I want to end career at Manchester City says Yaya Toure
YAYA TOURE wants to finish his career with Manchester City after signing a four-year contract.
When I first arrived at City, every time I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something.
The Ivory Coast midfielder, 30, who has won the Champions League, two La Liga titles, a Premier League trophy, the FA Cup and Copa Del Rey , said: “This is where I want to be . When I first arrived at City, every time I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something.
I want to continue winning titles and trophies and continue to make history.
“I have enjoyed all my time here and can’t wait for the next chapter. This is an incredible club to be part of with fans that support a team to the end.”
Toure, twice African Footballer of the Year, said: “I will never forget how I have been treated here by the fans, the club and the owners and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to finish my career as a Manchester City player.”
Meanwhile, team-mate Micah Richards admits he faces a fight to reclaim his place because of the man he regards as the club’s player of the season – Pablo Zabaleta.
Richards has made only four appearances this season because of ankle and knee injuries and has seen Argentina right-back Zabaleta go from strength to strength.
Richards has been back in training for the last fortnight and is keen to figure in the side but accepts Zabaleta is the man in possession now.
He said: “Pablo has had a good run in the team and has proved he is one of the best defenders around.”
