Arsenal target Victor Valdes raises spectre of summer move to Premier League
BARCELONA shot stopper Victor Valdes has fuelled further speculation that he could be on his way to the Premier League in the summer.
Valdes' future has created a frisson of excitement as he has yet to pen a new deal with the Catalan giants.
He has been courted by Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger has lingering doubts over Wojciech Szczesny.
The Spaniard has had a decorated career at the Camp Nou, lifting five La Liga titles and collecting three Champions League winners' medals during the past decade with the club.
In an exclusive interview in the May issue of football magazine FourFourTwo, Valdes admitted he is open to experiencing 'new cultures'.
"I want to try new cultures, new football, new challenges," said Valdes.
"I’ve had great times here, I love it at Barcelona. I will always come back here, but I have this wonderful job which allows me to travel. And I want to travel."
Valdes is an avid follower of the Premier League and thinks La Liga has a lot to learn from England's top flight.
He added: "I like the Premier League, of course. They shoot a lot 'shoot on goal' – that’s what you say in English, no?
"I like the respect of the crowd towards footballers in England. It’s a different way of living football. They clap a simple tackle in England, we’re not used to that. I like it."
