Ajax coach Frank De Boer 'flattered' by Manchester City link
AJAX coach Frank De Boer has conceded he is 'flattered' to be linked with the Manchester City job.
De Boer, who has been in charge of the Amsterdam giants for two and a half years, is the latest name to be tipped for the Citizens hot-seat as speculation continues to swirl around the future of Roberto Mancini.
Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini was also a strong contender for the job, but interest appears to have cooled.
And De Boer, who is on course to lift the Eredivisie title with Ajax, admits he is unaware that he is a candidate for the job.
He told Dutch paper De Telegraaf: "Personally, I have not heard anything from Manchester. If you read something, of course it flatters your ego."
Meanwhile, Marc Overmars is unfazed by the talk suggesting City's alleged interest in De Boer.
He told the same publication: "I'm not afraid at all. Maybe if they [Manchester City] come for De Boer in two years.
"Everyone is aware of the situation, but I think his agent is just hyping the matter."
The club are keen to tie down assistant manager Dennis Bergkamp, who has been linked with a job working for Arsenal's academy, and academy coach Wim Jonk to new long-term deals.
