Bristol City 1 - Sheffield Wednesday 1: Dave Jones in ref rage
DAVE JONES blasted referee Darren Deadman over the stoppage-time equaliser that kept Sheffield Wednesday in the thick of the relegation battle.
Bristol City striker Sam Baldock volleyed home after Marvin Elliott’s aerial challenge on Chris Kirkland had seen the keeper spill a cross.
All you want is a fair deal from the officials.
Jones said: “It was a forearm smash by Elliott. Anywhere else on the pitch the referee would have given a free-kick. We had taken everything they could throw at us and all you want is a fair deal from the officials.”
Jermaine Johnson fired Wednesday into a 36th-minute lead, but Bristol City thought they should have had a 75th-minute penalty when Greg Cunningham went down under challenge from Kieran Lee, but all he got was a booking for diving from referee Deadman.
Bristol City boss Sean O’Driscoll said: “We deserved more, but our spirit is not broken.”
