Everton and Tottenham on alert after Alvaro Negredo makes Premier League admission
EVERTON and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to rekindle their interest in Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo after he revealed his intention to play in the Premier League.
Everton manager David Moyes failed with an ambitious deadline day move for Sevilla striker Negredo after the Toffees deal for Leroy Fer fell through in January.
Tottenham are also thought to be considering a move for the 27-year-old frontman this summer, with Andre Villas-Boas keeping tabs on Negredo.
Both clubs and other potential suitors in England will have been alerted to the recent admission by the La Roja star, who revealed his intention to play in the English top-flight.
Negredo is quoted in the Liverpool Echo to have said: "It is a league that I like and sooner or later I will play in it.
“President Jose Maria del Nido (of Sevilla) received some offers in January, but decided not to consider them.
“We’ll see what is going to happen in the future.”
Sevilla are thought to value Negredo at £13m, but could be forced into a cut-price sale with economic difficulties gripping Spain's top two divisions.
Negredo has hit 15 goals so far this season, and could be set for a move to the Premier League after rejecting a move to Hull City in 2009.
