Borussia Dortmund not giving up on Manchester City's Edin Dzeko
MANCHESTER CITY hit man Edin Dzeko is still at the forefront of Borussia Dortmund's thoughts ahead of the summer window.
The Citizens manager Roberto Mancini is planning a major overhaul of the squad in the summer and Dzeko is earmarked as one of the players expected to leave the Etihad.
Dzeko has earned the unfavourable moniker of 'super sub' such is the proclivity to make an instant impact when coming off the bench.
Bundesliga giants Dortmund have been sniffing around Dzeko for a while and are keen to prise him away from last season's Premier League champions.
Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc admitted the club are interested in Dzeko, but the 'economic aspect' of a deal could be a problem.
Zorc told German paper Sport Bild: "There should be little doubt about Edin Dzeko being a top-class striker.
"He is a great forward and a player one should be keen on. However there is also still somewhat of an economic aspect.
"It would be down to pure maths because Edin Dzeko is under contract at Manchester City beyond the end of the season."
Dzeko has started only 36 of the 70 games he has played for City.
