Wigan manager Roberto Martinez wants Arsenal winger Ryo Miyaichi to stay on next season
WIGAN manager Roberto Martinez says he wants Arsenal winger Ryo Miyaichi to stay on next season.
Miyaichi has seen opportunities limited due to injury, however Martinez is prepared for him to show his worth.
He is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury which he sustained in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Everton.
Martinez admits he is keen to work with Miyaichi again though.
We will have to speak with Arsenal and make sure they are happy with the progression of the player
Martinez said: "We will have to speak with Arsenal and we need to assess and make sure they are happy with the progression of the player.
"Ryo is a footballer that we really admire and has an incredible future in front of him so if we could work with him for a longer period we would be very happy to do that."
Miyaichi is yet to start a league game for Wigan this season.
