Cardiff back on track to Premier League
MALKY MACKAY'S league leaders halted a mini-crisis to take a step nearer the Premier League.
It was hardly champagne football from Cardiff but goals from Don Cowie and Matthew Connolly gave the Welsh side, who were 11 points clear two months ago, their first win in four matches.
Cardiff went ahead seconds before half-time when Chris Kirkland punched out Craig Bellamy's corner straight to Cowie, who whipped a low, right-foot shot beyond the Sheffield Wednesday keeper.
It's another three points and I'm delighted at the manner we played, but we still have a long way to go
Connolly added the second on the hour with a crisp downward header from Peter Whittingham's free-kick.
Cardiff boss Mackay said: "It's another three points and I'm delighted at the manner we played, but we still have a long way to go."
