Cesc Fabregas: Barcelona fans demand more of me because of Arsenal spell
FORMER Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has complained that Barcelona fans 'expect more from him' because of his time at the Gunners.
Fabregas came through the ranks at Barcelona, but a lack of first-team opportunities in sight at the Nou Camp caused the Spaniard to switch to Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2003.
The 25-year-old enjoyed eight seasons in North London before completing a return to his hometown club in August 2011, but has now claimed his links with the Gunners cause Barca supporters to expect more from him.
The Catalan-born player was warmly received in the Spanish city initially after transferring back from Arsenal, but Fabregas reveals that relationship has turned frosty this season.
"I left and they paid £30 million for me," said Fabregas. "Every bad game I have wipes out 10 good performances."
"I graft at this club more than anyone, I'll fight to the end."
Fabregas was a key player in Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side, but has been forced to play second fiddle to Barcelona's Xavi and Andreas Iniesta regularly in the past few seasons.
However, he has still made 29 appearances for Tito Villanova's team this season, scoring eight goals.
