Kevin Phillips showing there's no substitute for experience
VETERAN Kevin Phillips is still banging in the goals for Crystal Palace - but he remains some way off becoming the oldest player to score in the Championship.
Phillips, who turns 40 in July, netted a hat-trick against Hull City in Palace's 4-2 win on Tuesday night.
He is third oldest player to score in English football's second tier but will need to stay in the game another two years to overturn the current record holder Teddy Sheringham.
Sheringham scored his last goal for Colchester United against Sheffield Wednesday in December 2007, aged 41yrs 239days.
Palace are two points off the automatic promotion places. They host Leeds United at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
