Lionel Messi's foot preserved in gold
LIONEL MESSI is officially football's golden boy.
A 25-kilogram pure gold replica of Messi's left foot was unveiled in Tokyo today and has been valued at £3.5million.
The foot was created by Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka to commemorate the Argentinian's staggering achievements.
Messi scored 91 goals in 2012, beating Gerd Muller's 40-year record, and has won the Ballon d'Or three times in a row,
"It's exceptional. You can see each line in the foot. It's an impressive piece of work."
The Barcelona man was not about to witness the unveiling but brother Rodrigo was there to stand in his shoes.
Rodrigo said: "It's exceptional. You can see each line in the foot. It's an impressive piece of work."
The foot will go on sale tomorrow (Thursday) with an endorsement from the Leo Messi Foundation, which helps children at risk around the world. Part of the proceeds will go to Messi's foundation.
Messi has won five La Liga titles with Barcelona and lifted the Champions League three times.
