Arsenal and Liverpool keep tabs on Italy defender Angelo Ogbonna
ARSENAL and Liverpool have been linked with a summer move for Torino's Italian international defender Angelo Ogbonna.
The 24-year-old, who started at the back for the the Azzurri during their 2-1 friendly defeat to England last August, could complete a switch to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Italian website Football Italia links the centre-back with a transfer to Arsenal or Liverpool, who may have to pay Torino chief Urbano Cairo's £17m valuation to secure his signature.
While a number of Serie A clubs are interested in signing the Italian of Nigerian descent, including Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli and Fiorentina, the player himself would prefer a move abroad.
Speaking on reports in his homeland on a mooted switch to the Italian league leaders Juventus, Ogbonna said: “For now, Juventus are not in my future – I just see Granata.
"A move abroad? Why not? My dream is to play in a Champions League final.”
While Ogbonna may struggle to fulfil that dream at Arsenal or Liverpool in the short-term, there have also been whispers of interest from Manchester United.
In 2008, Ogbanna escaped unharmed from a car accident after poor visibility saw the player lose control of his vehicle and cause his Smart car to career off a bridge and into a river.
