Manchester City try to get the ball rolling with Manuel Pellegrini
MANCHESTER CITY have already approached Malaga's Manuel Pellegrini, with a view to him becoming their new boss next season.
Pellegrini was also sounded for a move to Chelsea, with beleaguered manager Rafa Benitez's job still under threat.
But City have been drawing up a possible shortlist of managers, as Roberto Mancini has failed to hit the heights of last season.
Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is one of the candidates on the shortlist, following his impressive season thus far at the Liberty Stadium.
Reports have already surfaced in Spain that City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, is an admirer of Pellegrini.
Spanish football site Fichajes.net notes that City have already made contact with the Chilean, who is held in high regard and seen as an ideal person to drive the City project forward.
Pellegrini saw Malaga slip to a 1-0 defeat last night against Porto in the first leg of their last 16 tie.
He has been in charge of the La Liga outfit since 2010.
