Wayne Rooney is Alan Pardew’s favourite
ALAN PARDEW is a self-confessed lover of Wayne Rooney’s talents but sees no sense in trying to nullify his menace at St James’ Park this afternoon.
Newcastle boss Pardew admits he hasn’t any plans to deal with “England’s best player’’ – because Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson has so many potential match-winners.
Rooney was the subject of a £20million bid by Newcastle in August 2004, before Man United topped that with a £25m offer to lure him from Everton.
And he has kept reminding the Magpies of what they missed out on by taking his Premier League goal haul against them to ten.
He’s a fantastic player, one of my favourites
Pardew said: “He’s a fantastic player, one of my favourites.
“He’s England’s best player and I think he changes games for Man United.
“We don’t have any particular plans to stop him because I don’t think you can do that. If you have a plan for Rooney, what are you going to do about Robin van Persie? You need a plan for the whole team.”
